Ditch the Bowl: Try Scatter Feeding
2026-09-22Juli1 min read
Have you tried it? Next mealtime, skip the bowl and scatter the food across the grass instead.
Scatter feeding means spreading your dog's meal out over a patch of yard instead of pouring it into a bowl, so they have to sniff it out piece by piece.
Why it works
- Can be used around distractions
- Good for anxious dogs, fearful dogs, and reactive dogs
- Lets their nose do the work
- Encourages natural foraging
- Provides mental stimulation
- Helps dogs decompress
No special gear needed — just the same food that would've gone in the bowl, spread out instead.
